Sacred Heart School honors students each month who have exhibited great strength in a set of identified character traits found in the Schoolwide Learning Expectations. Students receive a Student of the Month certificate after a Mass or a morning assembly. Students also receive a designated free dress day and a treat on that day.
Building excellent character in our students is important to the teachers and staff at Sacred Heart School. As part of our Schoolwide Learning Expectations we have incorporated our Student of the Month Program to help us teach students about different character traits and behavior expectations. Each month is assigned a specific SLE. Throughout the month, students learn about the SLE and discuss behaviors that exhibit this trait. Students are encouraged to practice the SLE's by showing good character at school, at home, and in their community.
Teachers watch for students who can be chosen as Student of the Month for demonstrating the monthly trait on a consistent basis. Students from each class are honored for exemplifying the monthly SLE. These students are chosen based on teacher input.
Below is a list of the SLE character traits for each month of the school year. We hope this will help you and your child understand the SLE's we look for when the students are chosen each month.
September- SLE 1 -- Be Like Jesus
October -- SLE 2 -- Take care of God’s world
November -- SLE 3 -- Care about others
December -- SLE 4 -- Be a good student
January -- SLE 5 -- Be ready to learn
February-- SLE 6 -- Follow the rules
